Nominate your candidate for The Distinguished Teaching Awards

Which teacher at the Faculty of Pharmacy has made the most outstanding contributions in undergraduate education? Nominate your candidate for the Uppsala University Distinguished Teaching Awards 2021 no later than 18 March.

All employees and students can now submit nominations for the Uppsala University Distinguished Teaching Awards 2021. The prize will be awarded to teachers who have made outstanding accomplishments in undergraduate education and are given in five categories: among them Medicine and Pharmacy and the Independent Pedagogical Award, the latter this year prioritising "Pedagogical contributions and providing creative solutions in connection with the transition made to digital teaching/learning activities and online remote education".

Describe how your candidate works in the different nomination categories to give the drafting committee a more comprehensive picture of how your nominee fulfills the requirements for the award.

Anja Sandström, Distinguished teacher

Anja Sandström, Department of Medicinal Chemistry, received the Distinguished Teaching Award in Medicine and Pharmacy in 2019. The motivation was “Anja Sandström’s work as a teacher has been characterised by a strong commitment that both students and colleagues appreciate. She works on the basis of clear ideas about teaching, with responsiveness and a desire to adjust without compromising on quality. Anja tries out new approaches, reflects on outcomes and shares her experience with others. The students witness to how she conveys understanding of the subject of medicinal chemistry in a way that ensures that they retain their knowledge long after the course. ”

The prizes of SEK 20,000 each will be conferred at Uppsala University's Professorial Inauguration Ceremony in November. The recipients are selected by the university's Vice-Chancellor.
